Removal and installation of the driveshaft

 REMOVAL

1. Lift and install the car on supports.
2. Remove system of production of the fulfilled gases.

3. Turn off bolts of fastening and remove the heat-shielding screen (1), (2) from the bottom.

4. Turn off bolts of fastening and remove a flange of the cardan hinge at RKPP. At the same time the shaft needs to be held from a provorachivaniye a usual tape clip.

5. Turn off nuts of fastening of the driveshaft at a flange of the main transfer of the back bridge.

6. Wring out in grooves the screw-driver the hinge of equal angular speeds at a flange.

Do not allow driveshaft shift in the hinge. It can bring to a smyatiya of the protection cover of the hinge of equal angular speeds.

7. Clamp the central bearing and turn off nuts.

8. Lower the driveshaft at the central bearing down and take out it from the aligning pin at RKPP.

Close the hinge of equal angular speeds a plastic bag for protection against pollution.

Installation

At the vibration and noise going from the driveshaft it it is necessary to balance.

The driveshaft is balanced on all length. It is possible to replace it only in a set.


 INSTALLATION

1. Replace a shaft flange if it is worn-out. For this purpose turn off bolts (arrows on an accompanying illustration). Establish a new flange so that the arrows applied on circles specified in the direction of spokes of a flange.

2. Before installation check the aligning element (4) on a driveshaft flange. If necessary grease an element with plastic lubricant "Molykote Longtherm 2". Replace the damaged aligning element with new.

3. Pull together the hinge of equal angular speeds (1) against the stop. Enter lubricant into the hinge if there is no lubricant. Apply to this purpose only the lubricant recommended by BMW.

4. Replace a sealing ring (2). Previously wipe lubricant on the sealing surfaces of the hinge and a driving flange with alcohol.
5. Put on the driveshaft with the put-forward hinge a flange of the main transfer of the back bridge.

It is not necessary to shift the hinge of equal angular speeds since at the same time lubricant can squeeze out a sealing ring during assembly and the hinge will become untight.

Tighten a shaft to a flange of the main transfer. Establish the new self-stopped nuts and tighten their moment 70 Nanometers.
6. Tighten bolts of fastening of a flange. The moment of an inhaling of bolts of M8 45 Nanometers, M10 - 70 Nanometers, M12 - 80 Nanometers
7. Tighten bolts of fastening of the central bearing the moment of 22 Nanometers.
8. Fix the heat-shielding screen.
9. Install system of production of the fulfilled gases, address the Section of the Rule of respect for purity during the work with fuel system.
10. Lower the car on wheels.
