Removal and installation of a broad tank

Models 520i, 523i, 528i:

 REMOVAL

1. Open a stopper of a broad tank.

At the warmed engine before opening of a cover of a radiator put on it a thick rag to exclude a burn owing to emission of hot liquid and steam. There is a danger of accident. The cover can be opened only at a temperature of cooling liquid below +90 °C.

2. Turn off a ventilating bolt (1) and bolts (2). Address an accompanying illustration.

3. Remove the top part, take out a broad tank upward. Address an accompanying illustration.

 INSTALLATION

1. Replace sealing rings (shooters).
2. Insert a broad tank, fix the top part and a ventilating bolt.
3. Fill system with liquid and remove air from system, address the Section Cooling System Liquid Replacement. Check of frost resistance of a cooler. Visual check of the cooling system.
4. Start and warm up the engine and check tightness of connections.
