The movement with the trailer

The movement with the trailer will impose increased requirements both to the towing car, and to the driver.

The trailer limits maneuverability, ability to overcoming rises, possibilities of dispersal and braking, influencing dynamic properties and controllability of the car.

On дышло you will find data on admissible mass of the towed freight and on a permissible load in Specifications. The admissible mass of the towed freight is specified also in the passport of the car. It is possible to consult about a possibility of its increase at any CTOA BMW.

Traction coupling device *

If the traction coupling device is installed at the plant, then the car is equipped with the strengthened suspension bracket * the back bridge which compensates the weight of the traction coupling device and optimizes dynamic characteristics at the movement without trailer.

The optimum design of a running gear of your car guarantees high traffic safety and comfort, and also a possibility of sports driving. The running gear allows to tow the trailer with freight which is not going on weight beyond the limit resolved for the car in a serial complete set if at the same time you go with the trailer only to a holiday or is a little more often, and your manner of driving corresponds to more difficult service conditions of the car.

When retrofitting the car the traction coupling device * with a removable spherical head it has to have certification of BMW. And its installation has to be made technically competently on company STOA.

Removable part of the traction coupling device with a spherical head has to be covered with jellied lubricant; it facilitates its installation and dismantle.

At installation of the traction coupling device after release of the car from the plant it is also recommended to be equipped with the strengthened suspension bracket. It also is a condition for obtaining permission to the movement (for some types of trailers) with a bigger mass of the towed freight. It is optional to equip cars with the regulator of a road gleam with the strengthened suspension bracket.

Other systems of a suspension bracket offered to free sale in system of trade in autoaccessories have no certification of BMW.

Installation of the traction coupling device limits system effectiveness of the rear bumpers absorbing energy of collisions at small speeds due to elastic deformations.

The stabilizing devices are recommended to be used first of all at towage of heavy trailers. It is possible to consult about it on any CTOA BMW.

Nest cover for the traction coupling device *

To uncover, it is necessary to undertake from above dredging, to pull down, if necessary having picked up the screw-driver and to uncover the lower guide.

Before removal and installation of a spherical head a request to study the enclosed separate instruction.

At installation of a cover its groove should be inserted at first into a guide, and then to press on the top part of a cover.

Permissible load on a support of a dyshl

It is about loading with which дышло the trailer presses on a spherical head of the traction coupling device. It is possible to determine it, for example, by bathroom household scales.

By the rules existing in Germany, this size has to make at least 25 kg.

Admissible size cannot be exceeded, however its maximum use is desirable.

The weight with which дышло the trailer presses on the support exerts impact on behavior of the car. Therefore at the movement with the trailer admissible indicators of full mass of the car and load of the road from its back bridge should not be exceeded. Loading capacity partially decreases because of subtraction of the mass of the traction coupling device from it. Also the indicator of admissible lump of the car with the trailer should not be exceeded.

Loading

Loading of the trailer has to be made so that freight was placed as low as possible and as it is possible closer to a bridge axis.
Decrease in the center of gravity of the trailer significantly improves traffic safety of the car with the trailer.
It is impossible to exceed indicators of lump of the trailer and admissible mass of the towed freight. Smaller size is defining.

Upon purchase of the trailer it is recommended to request from the seller guarantee confirmation by the manufacturer of his actual weight and loading capacity.

The movement on rise

The size of the overcome bias (measured at sea level) is limited to 12% for safety reasons and in order to avoid creation of hindrances to a transport stream, and with the increased mass of the towed freight (in the resolved cases) - 8%.

From experience it is known that in process of increase in height above sea level engine capacity falls. At movement along mountain roads it is necessary to remember, in particular, deterioration in ability to start-off from the place on rise in this connection it is necessary to refuse full use of admissible limits of mass of the car and the trailer.

The movement under a bias

The special attention is required by descents of roads. On an entrance to them it is necessary to switch to a low gear, if necessary up to the first (at AT complete set the control lever is translated up to situation 2) then at a small speed to move under a bias.

Maximum speed

The maximum speed of the movement with the trailer on roads is limited to 80 km/h. Permissible axial load is defined so that at this speed normal trajectory stability is provided. Even if in other countries the movement with higher speed is authorized, all the same for safety reasons it is not necessary to go quicker.

Influence of the trailer can be eliminated only with immediate braking.

Air pressure in tires

Air pressure in tires of the car and the trailer has to be a subject of special attention. For the trailer the norms established by his manufacturer are defining.

Rear-view mirrors

If at the movement with the trailer the sector of the review through serially established external rear-view mirrors is insufficient, then rules offer to establish instead of them two mirrors in which the driver can see the trailer to the rear edge of each of boards. Including with adjustable arms, you can get such mirrors on CTOA BMW.

Electric equipment

In transit the trailer dacha it is necessary to take the raised electric power expense into account. Therefore taking into account the limited capacity of the accumulator inclusion of consumers of current has to be short.
