Schedule of routine maintenance

The offered recommendations assume independent performing procedures of service of the car by its owner unlike the works which are carried out at car repair shop of dealer office of the BMW company. Though this schedule is made on the basis of recommendations of manufacturer, intervals between the majority of procedures, at the discretion of the owner of the car, it is possible to reduce, for example, check and replacement of lubricants and liquids should be made with the intervals providing the maximum service life of the engine or drive. Besides, if the owner of the car is interested in supporting him in a condition of the maximum readiness for operation on a case of possible resale, many procedures can be performed more often. We only welcome a similar initiative.

Initial service and check of the new car has to be made at car repair shop of dealer office of firm for the purpose of performance of conditions of the guarantee certificate. In most cases such check is made free of charge (apply for further information in dealer office of firm).

Intervals of service of the BMW car of the 5th series depend on conditions of its operation. Intervals of service are displayed on the dashboard. The index of intervals of service has five green, one yellow and one red light-emitting diodes (LED). In addition the inscriptions "Oilservice", "Inspektion", and also a symbol of hours can light up (means need of replacement of brake fluid). The less the green light-emitting diode after inclusion of ignition burns, the less time remains before the next service. If the yellow light-emitting diode lights up together with one of two inscriptions, it is necessary to carry out the next maintenance. The following types of scheduled maintenance are provided: "Inspection I" (TO-1) and "Inspection II" (TO-2). TO-2 are every second TO-1. At violation of frequency of service the red light-emitting diode lights up.

Calculation of intervals of service is made by the microprocessor depending on the passable distance and service conditions, and also from style of driving. Amount of works, included in THAT, is specified in the service book.

On HUNDRED after work, carried out together with replacement of oil or performance THAT, indication of need of carrying out service is dumped. The special device which is on sale HUNDRED BMW is necessary for dropping indication. However HUNDRED, authorized by BMW, are obliged to dump free of charge indication of an interval of service even if service was conducted independently.

The works performed on system of service of BMW together with oil replacement are marked as "Oilservice".

The works performed within maintenance THAT need to be carried out at fire of the inscription "Inspektion" in combination with a yellow light-emitting diode. If not to follow the index of intervals of service, then service it is necessary to carry out each 20 000 km, or once in 2 years. Every second maintenance (TO-2) includes additional works.

TIME IN 4-6 WEEKS

ONCE A YEAR OR EACH 10 000 KM OF THE RUN (THAT WILL COME EARLIER)

All listed above points, plus:
• You make replacement of motive oil of the diesel engine and an oil filter. Under trying conditions is twice more often than operation. (The section Check of a Condition of Tires and Pressure in them) "Oilservice"
• Delete a sediment from the fuel filter of the diesel engine (The section Removal of a Sediment, replacement of the fuel filter. Removal of air from fuel system of the diesel engine). "Oilservice"

ONCE A YEAR OR EACH 15 000 KM OF THE RUN (THAT WILL COME EARLIER)

All listed above points, plus:
• You make replacement of motive oil of the petrol engine and an oil filter. Under trying conditions is twice more often than operation. (Section Replacement of Motive Oil and Oil Filter) of "Oilservice"
• You make check of turns of idling of the engine, contents WITH and interview memory of malfunctions of "Oilservice"
• You make replacement of the air filter (Section Replacement of an Element of the Air Filter) of "Oilservice"
• Check the microfilter of air of salon, in the presence of pollution replace (Section Replacement of the Filter of Air of Salon). "Oilservice"

TO-1: TIME IN 2 YEARS OR EACH 20 000 KM OF THE RUN

All listed above points, plus:
