Check of thickness of the conducted clutch plate
Necessary tool: BMW caliber.
The necessary wearing-out elements: Only if check concerns worn-out coupling: The conducted clutch plate.
The coupling which is self-established also does not demand service. Therefore wear of coupling cannot be determined by the pedal course. Thickness of a clutch plate is measured by special control caliber. The disk at the same time does not need to be removed.
| If there is no specified caliber, it is possible to check coupling as follows: Include the 5th transfer, start the engine at the pressed coupling pedal. Include coupling and give gas. If the engine does not become deaf, coupling is worn out. The specified inspection should not be carried out often since it is followed by big load of coupling.
|
According to the plan of Maintenance an inspection of thickness of coupling is carried out each 80 000 km.

1. Lift and install the car on supports. Remove the lower guard of a motive compartment, address the Section Removal and installation of the lower guard of a motive compartment. |
2. Remove the working cylinder at the check point. For this purpose turn off two bolts of fastening (the shooter on an accompanying illustration). Do not disconnect a hydrowire. |
|
3. Insert caliber of BMW into an opening of the working cylinder and press in the direction of an arrow (a white arrow), address a covering note an illustration. |
|
4. Consider the indication of a scale (a black arrow) on the party, having the inscription "B+C". The frictional slip needs to be replaced if the red zone is visible. |
